Working With Children

Working with Children Checks (WWCC) aim to create a child-safe environment and to protect children and young people involved in our sport from harm. It can include criminal history checks, signed declarations, referee checks and other relevant background checks.

WHO NEEDS A Working with Children Check (WWCC)?

In regards to volunteering as a coach; assistant coach; manager or assistant manager, the requirements are as follows:

Compliance with the Child Protection Act / SJRU policy is that all volunteers that engage with children have to have the WWCC check in place and current.

Dural Rugby Club is to maintain a record of WWCC checks for all roles undertaken including:

  1. Dural Committee Members
  2. Age Co-Ordinators
  3. Coaches
  4. Managers
  5. Trainers
  6. Assistant Referees

Any person who is a referee, umpire, linesperson, sporting official, or grounds-person requires a WWCC

A worker/ volunteer who is under 18yrs does NOT require a WWCC

Referees that attend a club more than 5 times a year require a WWCC

HOW TO APPLY

As you are a volunteer, you are not required to pay any fee. These fees only apply to paid workers. Once you have completed the required documentation you must update your WWCC number in Rugby Xplorer and to the Register to ensure that it is logged in to the WWCC register. Failure to do this can result in heavy fines for the individual and club.
