About Girl's 7s Rugby

7’s Rugby is a fast paced, exciting version of the game to both play and watch.  While it’s not new, it is definitely growing in popularity, in Sydney, and around the world. From club level, there are now solid opportunities to move to higher levels of the game.  Rugby 7s is an Olympic sport for both Women and Men.

At Dural, we participle in the Sydney Junior Rugby Union managed 7’s competitions, which operate as three competitions across the year, with each competition running like a series of Gala Days, with everyone at the same venue on the same day.  Teams will play a number of short games each day, with plenty of Rugby being played.

Registering for our Girls 7’s give you 22 weeks of Rugby in three phases.

If you have any questions, or problems registering, reach out to our Club Registrar or Club Secretary.

Our 7s coordinator will be at our Try Rugby Day on 21st January 2022, so come along and have a go – TRY RUGBY

We will also be holding in-person registration days at Dural Park on the 5th and 13th of February, where we will have a team of people standing by to help you with any questions you have.

Final dates remain to be published, but in summary;

“Sizzling 7s” runs from mid-February through to April

“Frosty 7s” runs in Terms 2 and 3 mid-June to Mid August

“Spring 7s” runs from Term 3 through to October

Dural Rugby is excited to join this exciting new development in our sport.

REGISTRATION FEES FOR 2022

In 2022, Dural Rugby Club has entered an exciting partnership with Gilbert Rugby.

Gilbert has been involved with the game from the code’s inception and is recognised for supplying quality gear to local clubs all the way

up to the Rugby World Cup.  We are really pleased to work with Gilbert to take Dural’s club colours to the next level.

Registration for Girls’ 7s covers all three rounds of completion (Sizzling, Frost and Spring), covering 22 weeks of Rugby in 2022

All Ages = $180

Keep an eye on social media to get a glimpse of the fantastic training and playing kit that Gilbert and Dural Rugby have prepared for Season 2022

AGE GROUPS

This year, Dural is starting with 2 age groups as we launch our Girls Rugby program

Under 14’s – Born in 2008 or 2009

Under 16’s – Born in 2006 or 2007

Once you’ve registered, we will get you on the right team.

PLAYING GEAR

Each team is supplied with jerseys, footballs, drink carriers, vests and a first aid kit (junior teams only ie U10 and above) at the beginning of each season. It is important all gear is looked after carefully and is returned at the end of the season.

It is a requirement for all ages to wear a mouth guard.

We recommend that your child wears head gear and shoulder pads. If you are purchasing any protective gear for your child it MUST have the IRB Rugby Union trademark.

Jerseys – Each team is supplied for jerseys for the year. These jerseys are to be returned at the end of the season. The jerseys are NOT to be worn for any other purposes except on game day. The Team Manager will arrange a washing roster for the jerseys.

Vests – ground marshal vests, runners, and assistant referees vests are provided to each team.

Footballs – Coaches are provided with Gilbert training balls and a match ball at the start of each season. To increase longevity, rugby balls are to be retained by the coach after each training session / match rather than being distributed to players to look after. The match ball is a premium Gilbert ball that is to be reserved for matches to maintain its condition. Correct ball sizes for age groups are set out below:

Age GroupBall Size
U6 & U7Size 2
U8 & U9Size 3
U10, U11 and U12Size 4
U13 and aboveSize 5

VOLUNTEERS

Any parents interested in assisting with team training, ground marshalling, ground setup, joining the Committee or Club Sponsorship please contact Club President.  There is plenty of help and training available so please don’t think it’s too hard. It’s a great way to get closer to the action.

INSURANCE

Dural recommends that all players have private health insurance. The ARU offers a basic level of insurance that is included with all registrations.

PROBLEM SOLVING

If you experience a problem, please raise your concern to your coach or manager. Your coach or manager can then raise the problem to their Age Coordinator. Your age coordinator knows the correct protocol to follow. If you feel that your problem did not get addressed, you can contact either our President or Vice President who will assist you.

CONTACTING THE SJRU

Please do not contact the SJRU, the SJRU will only speak to CLUB PRESIDENTS. Please direct all enquiries to either the President or Vice President who will handle the query or direct it to the correct person.

IMPORT RULE

Each Age Group is limited to having a maximum number of 2 players from another club join each age group. Please see the full ruling under the SJRU Competition Rules. Please be aware of this when asking players to join teams.
