General Rugby Information for 2017 Season
Our Minis U6 to U9 will be playing on Saturday and they will follow the Home and Away format with the other Eastwood District Clubs. The Eastwood District Clubs are Dural, Beecroft, Central Eastwood (combined Epping & Hillview), North Rocks, Redfield College and Ryde. The exception is our Trial Matches (3 matches) which are held on Sunday.
Our Juniors – U10 through to U17’s/U18’s are playing on Sunday in the Sydney Competition. There is a Friday Night Competition which is available for most age groups.
The U17/U18 is a combined Competition called Opens.

All Coaches and Managers should have attended a smart rugby course. All Coaches are encouraged to attend the appropriate Coaching Course/s for their age group. All the course information including dates are found at www.rugby.com.au then select Try Rugby and Coaching, National Course Calendar.
All information regarding the rule changes, amendments etc can also be found at the above web site. The web site contains many resources that all Coaches, Managers and Parents are welcomed and encouraged to use. The Sydney Juniors Rugby Union (who run our Juniors Competition) have a new web site juniors.rugby.com.au
Import Rule – it is important that everyone understands the import rule. See the SJRU Info Menu under Juniors or go the SRJU Web Site for the Competition Rules.
If you are purchasing any protective gear for your child it MUST have the IRB Rugby Union trademark. The Club supplies the players with shorts and socks which they keep and a jersey for the season only. It is a requirement for all ages to wear a mouth guard. We recommend that your child wears head gear and shoulder pads.
Each team is supplied with jerseys, footballs, drink carriers, vests and a first aid kit (junior teams only ie U10 and above) at the beginning of each season. It is important all gear is looked after carefully and is returned at the end of the season.
Jerseys – Each team is supplied for jerseys for the year. These jerseys are to be returned at the end of the season. The jerseys are NOT to be worn for any other purposes except on game day. The Team Manager will arrange a washing roster for the jerseys.
Vests – ground marshall vests, runners, and assistant referees vests are provided to each team.
Footballs – Due to cost it is not feasible to provide Gilbert balls. New Dural branded balls are provided for game balls as well as several other balls for training. It is not feasible to provide a ball for each player and it is recommended that the Coaches request the players to bring their own balls if the skill session requires it.
Ball Size 2 is used in U6 & U7 age groups
Ball Size 3 is used in U8 & U9 age groups
Ball Size 4 is used in U10, U11 and U12
Ball Size 5 is used U13 and above.

As all correspondence for Rugby is via email, please check your email regularly for all team, club, district and NSW Information. Season Information is updated on the Web Site www.duralrugbyclub.com.au and Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/duralrugbyclub We will also be trialing the Team App in 2016. Get onboard early, download from Google Play or Itunes “Team App”, search for Dural Rugby and create a login.
Ground Marshalls (U10 and above)
Each team must supply a Ground Marshall at each match (home and away). The Ground Marshall may be anyone other than the Coach, water runner or Assistant Referee. Ground Marshalls, Runners and Assistant Referee are all required to wear the orange/yellow safety vests which each teams has.
Qualified Assistant Referee (U10 and above)
A Reminder that in order to gain a bonus point for your team, each team needs to have an Qualified Assistant Referee at every match. We recommend at least 2 parents are qualified per team. The courses can be found on the web site above.
Please do not contact the SJRU, (from 2011) the SJRU will only speak to CLUB PRESIDENTS. Please direct all enquiries to either Matthew Hall or Geoff who will handle the query or direct it to the correct person.
Working with Children Form
The Government is implementing changes to the Sporting Clubs requirements this year. More information to come about these requirements and the process involved.
If you experience a problem, please raise it to your own Coach or Manager. Your own Coach or Manager can then raise the problem to the relevant person. Do not approach another team if you feel a problem exists. Your Coach and Manager know the correct protocol to follow. If you feel that your problem did not get addressed, you can contact either our President Matthew Hall or Vice President Geoff Ferris who will assist you.
Dural Rugby Club recommends that all players have Private Health Insurance. The ARU offers a basic level of insurance. See the Insurance Menu on the left for the wording and a link to the web site.
Registration Fees for Season 2017
Registration includes shorts, socks, team photo. See the front page for registration days or register online (see Registration FAQ for link and information).
- Under 6 and Under 7 players = $70 per player
- Under 8 and Under 9 players = $130 per player
- Under 10 to Under 17/18s players = $185 per player
There is a sibling discount of $20 for each and subsequent siblings. There is a online credit card processing fee for those who register online.
